Balkan Pharmaceuticals inaugurates a state-of-art complex.
On Thursday, 5th of December, Balkan Pharmaceuticals marked a significant moment in its history by inaugurating a modern factory in Pascani, Iasi County. With a total investment of over 9 millions of euro, co-financed by the Regional Operational Program 2014-2020, the project reflects a direct contribution to the economic development of the region.
The new unit, located on an area of 2000 square meters, is equipped with state-of-art equipment and systems in pharmaceutical production. The factory has two production lines, one for solid forms and the other for liquid forms, with an impressive capacity of 500 kg of powders/hour; 250,000 tablets-capsules/hour; 10,000 vials/hour. The complex also includes a department dedicated to the production of bioactive nutritional supplements from Pharma Grade ingredients, in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standards.
In Romania, Balkan Pharmaceuticals aims to manufacture over 40 products for both the European and American markets. The pharmaceutical products will be manufactured using innovative technologies that ensure increased durability, including the use of special coatings that reduce the oxidation of active ingredients. This approach underlines Balkan Pharmaceuticals’ concern for consumer health, emphasizing not only treatment, but also prevention, through high-quality products.
“In the Pașcani factory, we will also produce bioactive nutritional supplements, under conditions identical to those of medicines. It is a technological jewel, designed to meet the demands of the international market,” says Alin Haucă, the company’s founder.
In addition to the consumers’ benefits, the Pașcani factory generates economic opportunities for the local community. Approximately 50 jobs will be created initially, contributing to the development of the area and consolidating the region’s position on the map of the European pharmaceutical industry.
“After 18 years its founding, Balkan Pharmaceuticals crosses the Prut River for the second time, returning part of its investments back to Romania. The new industrial complex strengthens the security of our business and allows us to bring back into our portfolio some products whose manufacturing was interrupted for various reasons,” said Vasile Cazacu, general manager of Balkan Pharmaceuticals, Moldova.
Founded in 2006 in the Republic of Moldova, Balkan Pharmaceuticals stands out with two other modern industrial complexes in Chisinau and Sângera, where it produces over 300 products, in different dosages and pharmaceutical forms. The expansion of its activities in Romania consolidates the company’s status as the largest Romanian capital investment in the Republic of Moldova and underlines the effort to develop cross-border economic relations.
Through this project, Balkan Pharmaceuticals not only expands its production capabilities, but also reaffirms its commitment to innovation, quality and social responsibility.
