Description
Folic acid (Vitamin B9) refers to the B vitamins.
- Folic acid is indicated for:
Treatment and prophylaxis of anemias caused by folic acid deficiency:
– macrocytic anemia, anemia and leukopenia (low white blood cell count), caused by
drugs and ionizing radiation;
– megaloblastic anemia;
– anemia caused by resection of the stomach or intestinal tract,
– sideroblastic anemia in elderly patients;
– anemia caused by diseases of the small intestine: sprue (a disease characterized by chronic diarrhea, anemia, inflammation of the mucous membrane of the tongue) and malabsorption syndrome (absorption disorder).
- Prevention of the occurrence of hereditary malformations in the fetus.
- For the prophylaxis of folate deficiency following long-term treatment with folic acid antagonists, e.g. caused by the administration of phenytoin, phenobarbital and primidone, methotrexate, sulfamethoxazole-trimethorpim combination, antimalarials (drugs for the treatment of malaria), laxatives (drugs that cause the evacuation of intestinal contents), oral contraceptives.
- Treatment and prophylaxis of folic acid deficiency, including during pregnancy, breastfeeding, renal dialysis, chronic hemolytic conditions (the rate of production and destruction of red blood cells is unbalanced).
- Auxiliary treatment in case of depression and increased anxiety syndrome.
- Treatment of cervical dysplasia.
- Treatment of male infertility caused by insufficient spermatogenesis (oligospermia).
- Treatment of polyneuritis and polyneuropathies, including those of alcoholic origin. Folic acid should be taken orally, after meals. Alcohol consumption is not recommended during treatment.
What Acid Folic -BP contains
The active substance is folic acid.
Each tablet of Folic Acid-BP 1 mg contains 1 mg of folic acid.
Each tablet of Folic Acid-BP 5 mg contains 5 mg of folic acid.
– The other ingredients are: Magnesium stearate, crospovidone, copovidone, lactose monohydrate.
